The key components are :
Drivers Controller
ICU500
Inner LED Sign NSI
Voice Unit DVA500
GPS Module (or external GPS source)
The ICU500 Drivers Controller can
also be connected to the external destination signs, thus controlling
all the vehicle signs from one unit.
The system is fully programmable.
The sign messages, and their trigger points, are stored in the ICU500
Drivers Controller and the voice messages are stored in the DVA500
Voice Unit. Both the sign and voice messages are created and recorded
on a PC, with the Mobi Info Edit (MIE) software
being used for the sign message creation. This data is then transferred
to the vehicle using a Flash Memory Card, similar to that used by
digital cameras, etc.
The ICU500 initiates the display
and the sounding of the stored messages by using trigger points
associated with each available route. The trigger points are digitised
locations where messages are to be initiated en route. Normally
trigger points are set up to initiate a message which advises of
the next stop, at some point soon after leaving the previous one.
Another trigger point is then used to initiate a message to let
passengers know when the vehicle is arriving, or arrived, at the
stop.
The
systems can also be used for safety messages.
